Every Prime Day Amazon device deal: Fire TV, Kindle, Echo, Ring, Eero up to 68% off - CNET

Amazon-prime-day-5

Amazon's Prime Day prices revealed!

Angela Lang/CNET

Amazon Prime Day starts tomorrow, but we have the full list (via press release) of the Amazon and Alexa-powered devices that will be on sale -- including a handful that are already available, like the Echo Input for $15.

The good news: A few of these devices are hitting all-time lows, including the 2nd-gen Echo for $50, 2nd-gen Echo Show for $160 and Fire TV Stick for $15. The bad news: A few others merely match prices from last Black Friday, while others aren't even on sale. (No discount on the sweet new Echo Show 5, which debuted last month at $90 and will apparently stay there for Prime Day? Only if you buy 2, which gets you $30 off.)

According to Amazon, "select" device deals will hit the site today at noon PT. And if you already own an Alexa-capable device, you can already start asking "What are my deals?"

Here's a roundup of the deals available right now, followed by the complete list of Amazon device deals for Prime Day. Full disclosure: That list is mostly taken directly from an Amazon PR email that expands on the aforementioned press release. We'll be parsing these (and other) deals throughout the weekend to highlight the best ones once the sale starts on Monday, July 15 at 12:01 a.m. PT.

Read more: Our ongoing list of best Prime Day 2019 deals.

Note: CBS All Access and Showtime are divisions of CNET's parent company, CBS.

Prime Day deals available now

Yep, the third-gen Dot hasn't been priced this low since November.

Sarah Tew/CNET

Amazon's Fire TV Recast is $100 off on Prime Day, starting at just $130.

Chris Monroe/CNET

Another deal exclusively for Prime subscribers, the Ring Video Doorbell Pro and Echo Dot bundle drops to just $169 when you add them to your shopping cart. Previously the Ring was on sale for $169 all by itself -- the Dot just adds icing to the cake.

Chris Monroe/CNET

Note that this sale is only for Amazon Prime members, with the discount applied at checkout. Right now, you can snag the Ring Video Doorbell Pro for the nice price of $170. The smart doorbell works with Alexa, and lets you check on your porch remotely with an app. You can even tell the delivery person to leave your package with your Amazon Echo Show 5 smart display.

Ian Knighton/CNET

Hold off on this one. The second gen Echo is great and $70 is a reasonable price, but it will drop to $50 on prime day.

Here are all the deals coming Monday

Prime Day Amazon Echo smart speaker and smart display deals

Tyler Lizenby/CNET

The second gen Echo Show refined the design of the first model and offers better sound quality and a 10-inch HD screen. It combines the functionality of a smart speaker like the Echo Dot with a touchscreen you can use for video calls and controlling your smart home with a tap. We like the $90 Echo Show 5 a little better, but $160 for the full-sized Show is a tempting offer.

Chris Monroe/CNET

This is our favorite smart speaker for controlling your smart home. The Echo Plus has the same Alexa capabilities as the rest, it sounds better than other Amazon Echo speakers, and it has a built-in Zigbee hub so it can talk directly to small smart home sensors. With the Plus, you can do away with bulky third party hubs, so the $110 sale price is pretty appealing.

Prime Day home security deals

The original Ring doorbell is on sale on Prime Day too, in addition to the newer Pro model. If you don't need a slimmer design and 1080p streaming, go with the older Ring instead of the Pro to save yourself some money.

Ry Crist/CNET

Ring's simple, but reliable security system was already reasonably priced. The Prime Day sale makes it a great buy if you want a DIY system monitoring your home.

Chris Monroe/CNET

Amazon has sales on all kinds of Ring products for Prime Day, which makes sense as Amazon owns the smart home brand. The outdoor Spotlight cam hangs on your porch and provides reliable lighting and monitoring for your yard. The Spotlight Cam is also easy to set up, making it one of our favorite outdoor cams. The $140 price makes it a steal.

Chris Monroe/CNET

The Stick Up Cam doesn't stand out from the crowd as well as the Spotlight cam. It's an indoor cam with a wired and wireless version. It's a solid performer, but lacks some of the features of similar security cams. Still, at a discount, it's worth considering.

Amazon

The Blink XT2 is a weatherproof security camera with a battery that can supposedly last for two years. Getting a two-pack for $100 is a nice deal.

More Prime Day smart home deals

Josh Miller/CNET

Both the bundled system and Eero's individual routers will be on sale on Monday. The mesh system in particular creates a seamless network capable of covering a large home. Our main issue with it is the price, which is dramatically less for Prime Day. If you want a mesh Wi-Fi system, this is a good time to grab one.

You can also save $100 on an Eero router during Prime Day (pay just $99).

Amazon Smart Plug and Amazon Echo Combo

Save $55

Ben Fox Rubin/CNET

Amazon is introducing a new bundle here and we'll add the link once it's live. The simple smart plug lets you add voice controlled connectivity to dumb devices like lamps. Pairing it together with an Amazon Echo smart speaker makes for a compelling smart home starter kit.

Chris Monroe/CNET

Our favorite smart thermostat has an Alexa speaker built-in and includes a temperature sensor so you can customize settings based on a specific room. The Ecobee SmartThermostat features better microphones and a sleeker finish than previous versions, and the sale brings the price into the range of less capable competition.

Prime Day Amazon Fire TV deals

Sarah Tew/CNET

Save $50 on the Fire TV Cube during Prime Day. It costs just $70.

Amazon Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote

Save $25

Sarah Tew/CNET

Stream your favorite shows with the Amazon Fire TV Stick and Alexa remote -- it's just $15 during Prime Day.

Fire TV Stick 4K with Alexa Voice Remote

Save $25

Sarah Tew/CNET

Spend just $10 more for the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K (usually $50).

Prime Day Amazon Fire Tablet deals

Save $30 on the Fire HD 8 tablet, just $50, or get two for $80 -- an $80 savings.

Save $50 on the Fire HD 8 Kids Edition tablet, just $80, or get two for $140 -- a $120 savings.

The All-New Amazon Fire 7 Tablet usually costs $50. During Prime Day it will be just $30.

Save $40 on the all-new Fire 7 Kids Edition tablet, just $60, or get two for $100 -- a $100 savings.

Save $50 on the Fire HD 10 tablet, just $100, or get two for $180 -- a $120 savings.

Save $50 on the Fire HD 10 Kids Edition tablet, just $150, or get two for $280 -- a $120 savings.

Prime Day Amazon Kindle deals

Save up to $50 on Kindle Paperwhite, plus get a $5 eBook credit and three months free Kindle Unlimited, starting at just $85.

David Carnoy/CNET

Save $30 on the all-new Kindle, plus get a $5 eBook credit and three months free Kindle Unlimited, just $60.

Sarah Tew/CNET

Amazon recently announced a slightly updated version of its flagship Kindle Oasis e-reader that's due to ship on July 24th. The new model has a color temperature adjustable light. But if you can live without that, you can save up to $80 during Prime Day on the Kindle Oasis 2017. Additionally, you get a $5 eBook credit and three months free Kindle Unlimited, starting at just $175.

Prime Day deals on kids' devices

Amazon

The Echo Dot Kids Edition will be on sale for $45. It's similar to the regular Echo Dot, but has features and programming just for kids.

More Prime Day Amazon Fire TV and Fire Tablet deals

The best Amazon Prime Day 2019 deals available Sunday and the best coming Monday - CNET

amazon-prime-day-5077-rt

Prime Day sales have already started.

Angela Lang/CNET

Amazon Prime Day 2019 starts tomorrow, but let's be honest: It actually started a couple weeks ago, with deals rolling out from Amazon proper and other stores getting in on the action: Walmart's Prime Day sale has already started, Macy's has a Black Friday in July sale ending tonight and eBay and Target will unveil their sales tomorrow.

Take a breath. It's easy to get caught up in the hype and FOMO (fear of missing out), but the reality is that many, if not most, of the deals this weekend and this week will be repeated -- certainly during Black Friday Month this November, and possibly even before that.

That said, we want to cut through the noise to bring you the absolute best bargains -- and the advice you need to find them and perhaps even improve on them. Here's how to make sure you don't miss a Prime Day sale you're looking for, your secret weapon on Prime Day and how to save even more than you expected on Prime Day.

Next, check out the just-released list of Amazon device deals that will be available starting Monday. Among the highlights: The Amazon Fire TV Stick for $15 (regularly $40), Echo for $50 (regularly $100) and Facebook Portal for $80 (regularly $199).

Finally, we'll be updating and expanding this post as deals arrive (and depart), so bookmark it and check back often.

Note that CNET may get a share of revenue from the sale of the products and services featured on this page.

Sneak peek: A few of the best deals coming Monday

Although many deals are live right now (see below), there are lots more coming Monday -- and not just on Amazon devices. Here's a quick preview of the some of the highlights:

  • Jabra will be cutting 30% off several of its popular headphones, including the AirPod-rivaling Elite 65t.
  • Verizon Visible will be offering the iPhone 7 for just $99 (after two months of service and a rebate in the form of a $100 prepaid debit card). You can leverage the same rebate to snag the Motorola Moto 7 Power for just $49.
  • The super-sexy GLAS Smart Thermostat will be $179.99 on Prime Day. Regular price: $249.99.
  • The simple but versatile Kami Smart Security Starter Kit, regularly $99.99, will be priced at $69.99.
  • The Google Pixel 3 and 3XL will be $260 off their regular prices, while the Pixel 3aXL will come with a $100 Amazon gift card.
  • The Nixplay Seed 10.1-inch digital photo frame will drop to $105, while the Seed 13.3 will hit $147.

The best Prime Day deals right now

Let's take a look at Amazon's current batch of pre-Prime Day deals -- starting with one that was announced last week: Spend $10 at Whole Foods, get a $10 Amazon credit good for use during Prime Day

Optoma makes some of the best projectors in the biz, and this is a huge savings on what might be an ideal addition to your home theater -- or backyard, as the UHL55 is portable, with a carrying handle and built-in speaker. It can even function as a standalone Bluetooth speaker.

Runtopia

Designed with runners in mind, the Runtopia S1 features built-in GPS, a heart-rate monitor and a water-resistant case. It can receive basic notifications from your phone, and if you bring your phone along on your runs, the Runtopia app can provide audio coaching based on your heart rate. Click the on-page 25%-off coupon to snag the extra savings.

Another deal exclusively for Prime subscribers, the Ring Video Doorbell Pro and Echo Dot bundle drops to just $169 when you add them to your shopping cart. Previously the Ring was on sale for $169 all by itself -- the Dot just adds icing to the cake.

Between now and Prime Day, Amazon is offering deep discounts on a ton of magazines. Reader's Digest, for example: 10 issues for $8. Martha Stewart Living: 10 issues for $5.49. Men's Health: 10 issues for $9.99. These are all print mags unless otherwise specified.

Yep, the third-gen Dot hasn't been priced this low since November.

The Recast is Amazon's over-the-air DVR, a fee-free option for cord-cutters looking to record live TV. It normally sells for $229.99, so this is a huge savings (and by far the lowest price to date). Just take note that you'll need to pair it with an Amazon Fire TV device. Those aren't on sale yet, but they will be soon, no question.

Compared with music-streaming services like Apple Music and Spotify, Amazon Music Unlimited is already a deal at $7.99 per month. This promotion -- which requires a Prime subscription and is for new Music Unlimited subscribers only -- nets you four full months for just a buck. After that, you'll be on the hook for the regular rate, unless you cancel.

Sarah Tew/CNET

Amazon currently has the 32GB 2017 iPad model for $249 (which is the de facto street price these days). But the better deal is the 128GB model for $329. That gets you four times the storage for the same price you'd pay for the 32GB model at the Apple Store.

Óscar Gutiérrez/CNET

It's not a huge discount, but it's something. Apple's flagship AirPods come with a wireless charging case, a tiny little convenience that is nonetheless super nice.

Don't care about wireless charging? Amazon also has the second-generation AirPods with standard case for $144.99, a savings of about $14.

Now that you know what's happening today, let's take a look at what to expect in the weeks to come -- and how you can make sure you're getting the best deals. (Also, make sure you never miss any deals.)

Should I sign up for Amazon Prime now?

As noted, the big sale is exclusively for Amazon Prime subscribers, and an annual subscription costs $119 (or $13 per month if you don't want to pay all at once).

Worth it? If you're getting it just for Prime Day, then probably not. I'm here to tell you that Amazon products go on sale all the time. (Example: The Amazon Echo was recently discounted to $50, the lowest price to date -- and that had nothing to do with Prime Day.)

But Prime affords a whole bunch of other benefits, including free overnight shipping on many products (and two-day on most others) and lots of movies and TV shows from Prime Video.

If you don't want to pay for Prime but do want access to the Prime Day deals, here's one strategy: Sign up for Amazon's free 30-day Prime trial. The only catch: That's for new subscribers only, so if you've done the trial or been a member before, you can't get another trial.

What other kinds of deals should I expect?

The biggest discounts, of course, are on Amazon's own products and brands, including the full range of Echo speakers, Fire tablets and Fire TV streamers, Kindle readers, Blink cameras and so on.

Just how big? Here are some current prices and their Prime Day 2018 counterparts:

Where and how to shop on Prime Day

You don't need to sit at your computer to shop Prime Day. For example, if you own any kind of Alexa-compatible device (like a Fire tablet or Echo smart speaker), you can ask Alexa for Prime Day deals -- some of which might be exclusively available via voice purchase. The Amazon mobile apps, meanwhile, will let you grab deals while you're on the go.

You can also use this event to get charitable: The Amazon Smile program is a free and easy way to donate a portion of your purchase to just about any charity. Just start your shopping experience at smile.amazon.com instead of www.amazon.com. (While you're at it, read about other ways to give to charity without even trying.)

A few final destinations to consider:

Read my own Cheapskate feed, where I identify great deals every weekday.

Check out CNET Deals, where we share a variety of deals from our retail partners and the web at large.

Expired deals

These discounts are no longer available, though some may return on Monday.

Can't get enough MCU? In the lead-up to Prime Day, Amazon is offering rentals of Guardians of the Galaxy, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Iron Man 3, Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War and more for just $1.99 apiece.

Everyone's favorite kitchen accessory has been on sale at Macy's all week, but Amazon just jumped in with a matching price (one that beats Black Friday, FYI). To get it, you need to click (or tap) the on-page $10-off coupon before adding it to your cart. Wondering how this model fares against all the others?
