Prime Day 2019 Amazon device deals revealed: $25 Echo Dot available now, plus $15 Fire TV Stick, $30 Fire tablet, $85 Kindle Paperwhite and more coming tomorrow - CNET

Amazon's Prime Day prices revealed!

Angela Lang/CNET

Amazon Prime Day starts tomorrow -- Monday, July 15 -- but Amazon recently revealed (via press release) the full list of which Amazon devices will be on sale, and what their prices will be. A few of these deals are already available, like the Echo Input for $15. (See below for more.)

There are plenty of price cuts, but this year's list is more about meeting past sales rather than beating them: while a few items beat Black Friday 2018 pricing, many others merely rival it, while some are priced a little higher. The Fire TV Cube, for example, will be $70, but it was $60 last November.

One notable omission: The all-new Echo Show 5, which debuted last month at $90 and will apparently stay there for Prime Day -- unless you buy 2, which gets you $30 off. The larger Echo Show, however, will drop to $160, its all-time low.

Amazon says "select" device deals will hit the site a day early, on Sunday, July 14, at noon PT. And if you already own an Alexa-capable device, you can already start asking "What are my deals?"

Here's a roundup of the deals available right now, followed by the complete list of Amazon device deals for Prime Day. Full disclosure: That list is mostly taken directly from an Amazon PR email that expands on the aforementioned press release. We'll be parsing these (and other) deals throughout the weekend to highlight the best ones once the sale starts on Monday, July 15 at 12:01 a.m. PT.

Read next: Our ongoing list of best Prime Day 2019 deals.

Note: CBS All Access and Showtime are divisions of CNET's parent company, CBS.

Prime Day deals available now

Yep, the third-gen Dot hasn't been priced this low since November.

Sarah Tew/CNET

Amazon's Fire TV Recast is $100 off on Prime Day, starting at just $130.

Chris Monroe/CNET

Another deal exclusively for Prime subscribers, the Ring Video Doorbell Pro and Echo Dot bundle drops to just $169 when you add them to your shopping cart. Previously the Ring was on sale for $169 all by itself -- the Dot just adds icing to the cake.

Chris Monroe/CNET

Note that this sale is only for Amazon Prime members, with the discount applied at checkout. Right now, you can snag the Ring Video Doorbell Pro for the nice price of $170. The smart doorbell works with Alexa, and lets you check on your porch remotely with an app. You can even tell the delivery person to leave your package with your Amazon Echo Show 5 smart display.

Ian Knighton/CNET

Hold off on this one. The second gen Echo is great and $70 is a reasonable price, but it will drop to $50 on prime day.

Here are all the deals coming Monday

Prime Day Amazon Echo smart speaker and smart display deals

Tyler Lizenby/CNET

The second gen Echo Show refined the design of the first model and offers better sound quality and a 10-inch HD screen. It combines the functionality of a smart speaker like the Echo Dot with a touchscreen you can use for video calls and controlling your smart home with a tap. We like the $90 Echo Show 5 a little better, but $160 for the full-sized Show is a tempting offer.

Chris Monroe/CNET

This is our favorite smart speaker for controlling your smart home. The Echo Plus has the same Alexa capabilities as the rest, it sounds better than other Amazon Echo speakers, and it has a built-in Zigbee hub so it can talk directly to small smart home sensors. With the Plus, you can do away with bulky third party hubs, so the $110 sale price is pretty appealing.

Prime Day home security deals

The original Ring doorbell is on sale on Prime Day too, in addition to the newer Pro model. If you don't need a slimmer design and 1080p streaming, go with the older Ring instead of the Pro to save yourself some money.

Ry Crist/CNET

Ring's simple, but reliable security system was already reasonably priced. The Prime Day sale makes it a great buy if you want a DIY system monitoring your home.

Chris Monroe/CNET

Amazon has sales on all kinds of Ring products for Prime Day, which makes sense as Amazon owns the smart home brand. The outdoor Spotlight cam hangs on your porch and provides reliable lighting and monitoring for your yard. The Spotlight Cam is also easy to set up, making it one of our favorite outdoor cams. The $140 price makes it a steal.

Chris Monroe/CNET

The Stick Up Cam doesn't stand out from the crowd as well as the Spotlight cam. It's an indoor cam with a wired and wireless version. It's a solid performer, but lacks some of the features of similar security cams. Still, at a discount, it's worth considering.

Amazon

The Blink XT2 is a weatherproof security camera with a battery that can supposedly last for two years. Getting a two-pack for $100 is a nice deal.

More Prime Day smart home deals

Josh Miller/CNET

Both the bundled system and Eero's individual routers will be on sale on Monday. The mesh system in particular creates a seamless network capable of covering a large home. Our main issue with it is the price, which is dramatically less for Prime Day. If you want a mesh Wi-Fi system, this is a good time to grab one.

You can also save $100 on an Eero router during Prime Day (pay just $99).

Amazon Smart Plug and Amazon Echo Combo

Save $55

Ben Fox Rubin/CNET

Amazon is introducing a new bundle here and we'll add the link once it's live. The simple smart plug lets you add voice controlled connectivity to dumb devices like lamps. Pairing it together with an Amazon Echo smart speaker makes for a compelling smart home starter kit.

Chris Monroe/CNET

Our favorite smart thermostat has an Alexa speaker built-in and includes a temperature sensor so you can customize settings based on a specific room. The Ecobee SmartThermostat features better microphones and a sleeker finish than previous versions, and the sale brings the price into the range of less capable competition.

Prime Day Amazon Fire TV deals

Sarah Tew/CNET

Save $50 on the Fire TV Cube during Prime Day. It costs just $70.

Amazon Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote

Save $25

Sarah Tew/CNET

Stream your favorite shows with the Amazon Fire TV Stick and Alexa remote -- it's just $15 during Prime Day.

Fire TV Stick 4K with Alexa Voice Remote

Save $25

Sarah Tew/CNET

Spend just $10 more for the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K (usually $50).

Prime Day Amazon Fire Tablet deals

Save $30 on the Fire HD 8 tablet, just $50, or get two for $80 -- an $80 savings.

Save $50 on the Fire HD 8 Kids Edition tablet, just $80, or get two for $140 -- a $120 savings.

The All-New Amazon Fire 7 Tablet usually costs $50. During Prime Day it will be just $30.

Save $40 on the all-new Fire 7 Kids Edition tablet, just $60, or get two for $100 -- a $100 savings.

Save $50 on the Fire HD 10 tablet, just $100, or get two for $180 -- a $120 savings.

Save $50 on the Fire HD 10 Kids Edition tablet, just $150, or get two for $280 -- a $120 savings.

Prime Day Amazon Kindle deals

Save up to $50 on Kindle Paperwhite, plus get a $5 eBook credit and three months free Kindle Unlimited, starting at just $85.

David Carnoy/CNET

Save $30 on the all-new Kindle, plus get a $5 eBook credit and three months free Kindle Unlimited, just $60.

Sarah Tew/CNET

Amazon recently announced a slightly updated version of its flagship Kindle Oasis e-reader that's due to ship on July 24th. The new model has a color temperature adjustable light. But if you can live without that, you can save up to $80 during Prime Day on the Kindle Oasis 2017. Additionally, you get a $5 eBook credit and three months free Kindle Unlimited, starting at just $175.

Prime Day deals on kids' devices

Amazon

The Echo Dot Kids Edition will be on sale for $45. It's similar to the regular Echo Dot, but has features and programming just for kids.

More Prime Day Amazon Fire TV and Fire Tablet deals

Prime members, remember to STAY LOGGED IN to see all the deals.

You have to pay to play. Only Prime members can take advantage of Amazon Prime Day deals. If you're a seasoned Amazon shopper, the $119/yr fee is well worth the many perks of Amazon Prime. If you don't shop want to pay the cost, here are some much cheaper alternatives.

  • If you've never signed up for an Amazon Prime trial: You're eligible for a free 30-day trial membership. Make sure to cancel before your 30 days are up.
  • If you've already signed up for an Amazon Prime trial: Amazon offers 1 month of Prime for only $12.99. This is easily the best solution if all you want to do is participate in Prime Day without any commitment. You could recoup the cost from a single purchase.
  • If you're a student: You're eligible for a free 6-month trial. Even if you already used up the trial, you're still eligible for 50% off Amazon Prime, or $59 per year for 4 years.

Early Amazon Prime Day Deals

Prime Day Echo Dot Deal

3rd Generation Amazon Echo Dot for $24.99 (Originally $49.99)

Save 50% off the latest Amazon Echo Dot. The Echo Dot is more than just an informational device or a friend to talk to when you have none. You can download from a library of thousands of 1st party, 3rd party, and user submitted Alexa skills that accomplish everything from ordering Domino's pizza to controlling your home security system.

Prime Day Instant Pot Deals

Instant Pot DUO Plus 60 6 Qt 9-in-1 Electric Pressure Cooker for $69.99 (Originally $130)

This same Instant Pot sold for $80 last Amazon Prime Day, but you're getting it for 13% less than that this year. Electric pressure cookers are all the rage, and for good reason. You can cook all kinds of food that typically would take a very long time in a matter of minutes. In my case, that's been ribs, tri-tip, beef stew, rice, and much much more. I bought this a few years ago and besides my microwave, it is the most used small appliance that I own. The Duo Plus 60 is the luxury model of the instant pot lineup.

Prime Day Fire TV Recast Deal

Amazon Fire TV Recast From $129.99 (Was $230)
The Amazon Fire TV Recast is a DVR that lets you watch and record over-the-air TV at home with Fire TV or Echo Show, or on-the-go with a compatible mobile device with no monthly fees. The base model has 2 tuners and 500GB of storage which can record up to 75 hours of TV. The advanced model has 4 tuners and 1TB of storage.

Ring Video Doorbell Pro with Alexa for $169.99 (Was $250)

Prime Day MicroSD Card Deal

Samsung EVO Select 256GB Micro SDXC Card (Nintendo Switch Compatible) for $36.99

After plunking down $300 on a Nintendo Switch, you might find it hard to spend more money on accessories. Unfortunately, the Switch only comes with 32GB of onboard storage, which is inadequate if you hope to build out any kind of digital library. Fortunately, you can increase your storage capacity 9-fold for only $37. For most people, a 256GB card is all you'll ever need to hold every single one of your games. The Samsung EVO Select is a faster memory card than the other memory card (SanDisk Ultra) we like to push.

Prime Day Arcade1up Deal

Street Fighter 2 Arcade1Up Cabinet (Street Fighter ll Champion Edition, Street Fighter ll The New Challengers, Street Fighter ll Turbo) for $199

Clip the $50 off coupon on the product page and score this awesome 3:4 scale SF2 arcade replica for just $199, $100 cheaper than everywhere else. The 3:4 scale is perfect for sit-down play. If you want standup play, this riser is specifically made for this cabinet.

Prime Day MacBook Deals

$200 Off Brand New 2018 MacBook Air 13" Retina Display Intel Core i5 Laptop, Now Starting at $999

The page says "Latest Model," but don't be fooled. Amazon just hasn't gotten the new ones in yet (though you can get them directly from Apple). Regardless, these 2.8lb MacBook Airs are very good laptops, with 13.3-inch Retina 2560x1600 displays, dual-core eighth-gen Intel Core i5 processors, Intel UHD Graphics 617, and 8GB memory. Basically, if you need a laptop to do regular laptop things, this is a fantastic choice. It's also the last time you're likely to find a MacBook for under $1000, so grab it quick before it sells out.

Up to $200 Off 2017 MacBook Pro 13" Retina Display Intel Core i5 Laptop without Touch Bar, Now Starting at $1149.99

Deliciously Touch Bar-free. This is the "MacBook Escape," or the most recent MacBook Pro to ship without a Touch Bar. And with the new MacBook Pro refresh Apple announced yesterday, there are no more models without a Touch Bar. So if not having a Touch Bar is important to you, this is pretty much your last chance to get one for the foreseeable future. Aside form that, it comes with a 2.3GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor, a crystal-clear Retina display, Intel Iris Plus Graphics 640, and two Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) ports.

Aside from that, it comes with a 2.3GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor, a crystal-clear Retina display, Intel Iris Plus Graphics 640, and two Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) ports.

Amazon Prime Day Tips and Strategies:

The Amazon Visa Card normally gives you 3% cashback on all Amazon purchases. If you have an Amazon Prime Membership, the cashback gets bumped up to 5%. For Prime Day (July 15-16) this cashback gets increased to 6%. Getting an extra 6% off every single purchase on Amazon is pretty outstanding, especially considering this card has zero annual fees.

Now until July 25, also get an $80 Amazon Credit when you first sign up.

For those of you who prefer making purchases with a debit card instead of a credit card, there's a very easy way to get cashback here too. Simply reload your Amazon balance with a debit card and get 2% cashback. All you're doing is transferring funds from one account (your debit card) to another (your Amazon account) and Amazon is essentially rewarding you for it.
One of the biggest perks for Amazon Prime members is the free 2-day shipping. But do you need 2-day shipping for every purchase? If instead you choose "Free Standard Shipping" Amazon will give you $1-$5 worth of Amazon credits good for digital goods (like games and software), Prime Pantry, music, Kindle digital books, and more.
If you own an Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, Amazon Tap, Fire TV, or Fire Tablet device, ask your device "Alexa, what are your deals", and Alexa will spit out unique deals that can't be found anywhere else. There will be quite a few Alexa-exclusive deals on Prime Day.
1-Click Ordering is especially useful for those of you who like to make Amazon purchases on your mobile device. Instead of having to trudge through several pages before making the purchase, this process lets you purchase the item in just 1 or 2 clicks. You'll just have to set up your account information beforehand to use this feature.

On Prime Day, this feature will also be useful for claiming those Amazon Lightning Deals that expire in mere seconds. Your item isn't guaranteed even if you have it in your cart; the only way to make sure is to check out.

Amazon Prime Day Concert With Taylor Swift

Watch the Prime Day 2019 Concert for Free

Prime Day has gotten big enough now to spawn its own dedicated concert. Taylor Swift headlined an Amazon Music special concert broadcast live ONLY for Amazon Prime members. Also on the bill were Dua Lipa, SZA and Becky Lynch.

The bad news is the live event is over. But the good new is Amazon Prime members can still watch the Taylor Swift concert as part of the Amazon Prime Day festivities. It's not the same as the live stream, but it's still a great way to catch the Prime Day concert if you missed it and really want to see it.

NEW YORK, July 14 — Huawei Technologies Co Ltd is planning extensive layoffs in the United States as the Chinese telecoms equipment company grapples with its US blacklisting, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing people familiar with the matter.

The layoffs are expected to affect jobs at Huawei's US-based research and development subsidiary Futurewei Technologies, which employs about 850 people in research labs across the United States, the Journal said.

The layoffs could be in the hundreds, one person told the Journal. Huawei's Chinese employees in the United States were being given an option to return home and stay with the company, another person added.

Some employees have already been notified of their dismissal, while more planned job cuts could be announced soon, the newspaper said.

Huawei declined to comment when contacted by Reuters.

After the Commerce Department decided to put Huawei on its so-called entity list, Futurewei employees have faced restrictions to communicate with their colleagues in Huawei's home offices located in China, the people told the Journal.

Last week, Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross said the US government would issue licences to companies seeking to sell goods to Huawei where there was no threat to national security. — Reuters

Is Walmart dropping a massive sale before Amazon Prime Day? - Digital Trends

walmart joins race to use drones for home delivery

With Amazon Prime Day just around the corner, competing retailers have been scrambling to keep up. We’ve seen great deals come out of Walmart, Target, and Best Buy to rival the retail giant, with Target even going as far as trying to re-brand the event as their own. Walmart has been especially active in the days leading up to Prime Day 2019, dropping huge early savings on Google Nest products and 4K TVs before Amazon. It appeared as if Walmart’s early deals were simply an attempt to beat Amazon to the punch rather than competing with them directly on July 15, but a recent news story from Fox Business seems to suggest otherwise.

According to the report, Walmart is going to be dropping an enormous summer sale on Sunday, July 14, an entire day ahead of Amazon’s Prime Day. The report also says that Walmart’s Prime Day sale will run through Wednesday, an entire day longer than Amazon’s 48-hour event. This is purely speculation at this point considering Fox doesn’t actually cite any sources. However, if it is true, it could mean shoppers are in for the biggest Prime Day of their lives.

Amazon already announced that it will be offering some early access deals to Prime members starting at 3 p.m. on July 14, but that pre-Prime Day event could be quickly overshadowed if Walmart drops its sale early. If that does happen, it’s entirely likely that Prime Day will begin a lot earlier than we thought. Amazon has dominated the online retail space for a long time, but Walmart has been gaining trust in the market over the last few years. So if Walmart draws blood first with early deals, it is highly likely that Amazon will retaliate immediately by dropping its full list of deals.

Whether Walmart is actually dropping a sale or not remains unclear, but you can be sure they will be offering at least some sort of deals during Amazon’s Prime Day event. They have been offering deep discounts on Apple products pretty much all year long already, so you should be able to find Apple Watch and iPad deals through this upcoming Wednesday.

Early Acess Prime Day Deals from Amazon

Amazon released a rather impressive preview of their Prime Day deals earlier in the week, with the most accurate pricing information on its own devices. According to this sneak peek from the retail giant, Prime members will be able to access early deals by asking “Alexa, what are my deals?” These are scheduled to start today at 3 p.m. ET, but don’t know exactly what deals will be attached to this event. Our guess is that Amazon’s early deals will be on the Echo, Fire TV, and Kindle devices featured in the preview:
